37 Year old Abstract Painter Chiqui Rodriguez just recently opened the
first series of Sudden Flight last May
29, an exhibit featuring 20 artwork she masterfully created, it’s in house at Picasso Boutique Serviced Residences
in Salcedo Village in Makati City, hosted by Altromondo.
Sudden Flight according to Chiqui is a tribute of how she glorifies the
hardship and the heartaches of fellow Filipinos she met abroad way back 2012 in
Berlin. “It’s a collection of painting referring to the after thoughts, after
being understood the feelings of OFW.” Chiqui said.
Acrylic is the medium she uses for all this artworks since according to
her it moves freely along tunnels and it’s more similar to life, that if we do
focus on a certain things it will go better and beyond. Technique use as
explain by Chiqui is more of an engineering one wherein a body of liquid is in horizontal
that in combination is the best way to convey her message.
Sudden Flight is consist of 100 pieces of painting, 20 is seen in
Manila preview while the rest will be showcase abroad. This is the sixth solo
exhibit of Chiqui as a Filipina renowned abstract artist.
As an undergraduate of Philippine Studies at the University of the
Philippines, Chiqui believe her artistic talent can be rooted to her ancestors;
her grandfather is a cousin of FerdigonVocalanm, a known painter of Angono in
Rizal that runs a famous Art resto, the Balaw-Balaw Restaurant in the
province that called the Art Capital of the country.
Sudden flight will last until July 18. For more information you may
