Hotel Sogo extends help to communities in CamSur

Hotel Sogo continues to care as it ramped up its effort in helping the country’s indigent communities by reaching out to several communities in Luzon. Recently, it donated school supplies to over 300 school children in Triangulo Elementary School - Diversion Road, CBD II, Barangay Triangulo, Naga, and Oroc-Osoc Elementary School - Oroc-Osoc, Caramoan, Camarines Sur. Hotel Sogo also distributed long sleeve shirts and black out tarp cover from Hotel Sogo’s collateral materials for use as cover for tourist and fishing boats to 200 fisherfolks from Brgy.Paniman, Caramoan Camarines Sur. Artist Playground Presents First Original Pinoy Musical.

 Originally presented as a straight play at the CCP Virgin Labfest in 2005 and a short film produced for Cinemalaya in 2006, the characters of Gee-gee and Waterina returns onstage this time as a musical. For their 4th Season, Artist Playground's first Original Pilipino Musical, " Gee-gee At Waterina, Ang Musikal " will debut on August 18, 2018 at Arts Above, Artist Playground II, located at 112 West Venue Bldg., West Avenue, Quezon City. Based from the story, book and lyrics by J. Dennis C. Teodosio, choreography by Lezlie Dailisan and direction by Andrew de Real, will feature an all-new original musical compositions by Jesse Lucas. Roeder Camañag plays Waterina, a comfort gay during Japanese Occupation and Norman Peñaflorida plays Gee-gee, an entertainment actor, radio host and Pasay City councilor.  Supporting cast includes Bench Ortiz, Joseph dela Cruz, Nel Gumalog, Romeo Palma Jr. and Sean Nolasco. Obra Ni Juan. Theater Review.

Spoliarium, an opera with libretto by Soprano Fides Cuyugan-Asensio and with music by Ryan Cayabyab was the first production I saw pertaining to the life of Juan Luna. Originally staged at the CCP in 2003 starring Robert Seña at the titular role, the opera was staged in Tribeca Performing Arts Center in New York thirteen years later. Philippine Stagers Foundation (PSF) current production of "Obra Ni Juan " was my follow-up. This original Filipino musical entertainment was written by Atty. Vince Tañada, PSF President and Artistic Director and with music by Peter Paul "Pipo" Cifra, president of UST Conservatory of Music Alumni Association Incorporated, marked as my first production I saw from PSF.
