PHILIPPINE STAGERS FOUNDATION, (PSF), a  theater group base in Sampaloc, Manila successfully run the 6th year PSF Theater Festival held  exclusively at the home of Stagers in Balic-Balic where a mini theater is set up to cater for almost 50 invited guest and friends of Stagers, plus the chosen three members of the Jury.  The main purpose of the festival is to showcase new talents from this year’s participants of the workshop, and to rediscover different theater talents of its Stagers members.  It started last April 13 up to May 10.

Atty. Vince Tanada.

According to Vince Tanada, a lawyer in profession and the founding member of PSF, they have 100 participants mostly students from different Universities and campuses in the Country , and some professionals of different fields, they were selected out of 700 who audition for this year’s Summer Theater Workshop that caters to Acting, Scriptwriting, Stage Management and Directing play.  Vince point out that this is for free, no fees collected to the participants and they are doing this ever since as a way of thanking those who support PSF throughout.

PSF is doing school base and commercial play of different genre and themes not only in Manila but throughout the Country; they are totaling 450 stage plays for a year mostly.  Among their past productions are Bonifacio: Isang Sarswela, Cory ng EDSA, and many more.

This 2014, PSF is premiering the Pilipinas: 1941, a play of love about the Bataan Death March, written and to be directed of course by Tanada.

"Babae Po Ako" Cast.
At the Festival, around eight short plays compete for this year’s honor roll, delivered and executed on stage by Stagers members. Watching the three weeks show was truly a blast, Stagers themselves really stunned us in terms of acting and directing, their ability to cry, shout and deliver punchlines on stage is far out from other theater group I’ve known so far, from creative lighting to props and stage design is well applauded by majority of us in the audience.  Tanada’s ability in creating and transforming his Stagers into a well craft artist is a success; they could even surpass those Artists in the mainstream Television and Cinema.

Knowing Tanada deeper throughout the Festival is getting to know his passion for the arts as well, even though he is a practicing lawyer he never give up his love for theater, PSF strong foundation for the past 13 years is truly a success and an envy to others especially his marketing arm. Tanada who mostly write and direct plays for PSF is a Palanca awardee and a Aliw Awardee for acting.
