Hotel Sogo extends help to communities in CamSur

Hotel Sogo continues to care as it ramped up its effort in helping the country’s indigent communities by reaching out to several communities in Luzon. Recently, it donated school supplies to over 300 school children in Triangulo Elementary School - Diversion Road, CBD II, Barangay Triangulo, Naga, and Oroc-Osoc Elementary School - Oroc-Osoc, Caramoan, Camarines Sur. Hotel Sogo also distributed long sleeve shirts and black out tarp cover from Hotel Sogo’s collateral materials for use as cover for tourist and fishing boats to 200 fisherfolks from Brgy.Paniman, Caramoan Camarines Sur. This is “The Quest for the Adarna”, REP’s Theater for Young Audiences (RTYA) season-ender for 2019. A musicale targeting the young kids but will also appeal to the not so young (those who had Ibong Adarna in their schools). The play was written in English for a much wider audience. This was Repertory Theater’s first adaptation of a Filipino classic literature. An adventure themed play set in the magical kingdom of Berbania. Relieve the timeless Filipino classic in a visually interactive theatrical play, done the REP way. Opening the event with the Solaire and German Club Manila’s Executives Now on its 81st year, German Club Manila together with Solaire held its press conference for the much awaited and most authentic Oktoberfest Celebration in Manila on October 17 to 19 at the Tent at Solaire. With a goal of bringing the biggest and most authentic Oktoberfest in the country, the halls of the tent were adorned with genuine German-crafted tables and benches- resembling the ambiance of a local Bavarian Oktoberfest Celebration. Another Stephen Sondheim musical is soon to open in Manila on September 13, Company is under the Direction of Topper Fabregas, according to him, the story about being single has gained a lot of attention, seemingly insignificant word. “There’s no ‘the’ in the title,” he clarifies. “It’s just COMPANY.” Musical Director Rony Fortich concurs: “It’s about companionship,” he declares. “If you say ‘The Company,’ it sounds like it’s about a corporation.” To make matters more complicated, the Tony Award-winning musical comedy stars (among others) OJ Mariano and Sweet Plantado-Tiongson, both from the country’s premier vocal group known as The CompanY… which, to add to the confusion, actually took its name from Sondheim’s show. Silent Film Festival now in SM Aura

Now on its 13th year, the International Silent Film Festival (ISSF) Manila happened last August 30 to September 1, 2019, at its new home at the Samsung Hall, SM Aura Premier, Taguig City. ISSF is one of the most revered film festivals in Metro Manila as it is not only free, it features live performances of local and foreign bands of different genres as musical accompaniment. One of the featured films is the classic by Kenji Mizoguchi, The Downfall of Osen (1935). It is about a servant girl who did everything to finance the education of a man he loves. The live musical score was served by Kaduma ni Karol, a band from Mindanao that fuses indigenous sounds with contemporary music.
