Breakfast Bliss at Café 1771

Image
Whether or not you’re a morning person, a hearty and delicious breakfast is a great reason to wake up early—especially when it's breakfast at Café 1771, where breakfast is served with enough imagination and charm to make anyone’s day. Start a busy day in the quiet, library-inspired Lounge, or perk yourself up with Café 1771’s coffee concoctions amid the cheerful blue and fuschia hues of the Whimsy area. Chef Vicky Pacheco’s breakfast menu is carefully thought out, with nearly everything made from scratch, and using only the best and freshest ingredients.  Consider, for example, the Hole-in-One Corned Beef, made of spiced corned beef hash—prepared in-house, of course—with cubed potatoes and a dense sunny-side-up egg in the center. Served on a sizzling plate with rice or wheat bread on the side, this all-day favorite is big on size and flavor.  Considered the ultimate reward for egg lovers, Eggs Florentine in a Boat is two poached organi...

Book Review: I Stood with Willington by James Mace

Image
I felt like I've traveled in the past upon reading this book. Author has remarkably used words that further enticed the reader to be "part" of the novel. The era of the plot really intrigued me. I always love reading stories like this that will bring you back in time. It's as if I was there during the war. In times of war, you can really never tell who's with you and who's against you. You're lucky enough if you have the loyalty of your best men. I Stood With Wellington “Up Guards and at them!” In February, 1815, after nine months in exile, Napoleon Bonaparte, the deposed Emperor of the French, escaped from the Isle of Elba. Seizing the initiative while the European powers bicker amongst themselves at the Congress of Vienna, Napoleon advances towards Belgium with an enormous army, where the combined forces of Prussia and England are cantoned. The French Emperor knows that if he can achieve a decisive capture in Brussels, it will shatter the ...

Each one of us has a definition of the term “gentleman” but for those who have voted for “The 2013 Elan Awards: The Search for the Modern Filipino Gentleman,” it seems that impeccable style, inspiring achievement and high-wattage visibility are the unique factors that sum up this irresistible figure. Since voting began last June 17 in McJIM Classic Leather Official Facebook Page, supporters have pushed the names Christian Bautista, Xian Lim, Dingdong Dantes, Coco Martin and Piolo Pascual to the forefront, giving us a foretaste of a heated competition among some of the most bankable celebrities today.   Coming both from the Kapamilya and Kapuso networks, they each portray unique roles in  television and film and have different strengths and talents but what draws them together is their self-confidence that comes from having proven something of value. For instance, Christian, the “Asian-sation,” has established himself as a record-breaking balladeer not only in...
